Materials Needed:

Yarn 50 g / 160 m – I used YarnArt Jeans in two colors (brown and cream)

Small amount of yarn in beige and pink of the same thickness

Fine yarn for eyes and face in black, white, and brown colors (I used Vita coco) or embroidery floss

2 mm crochet hook

Stuffing

Sewing needle with a wide eye for attaching details

9 mm safety eyes

Red felt

Scissors

Row markers

Good mood

The toy’s height when using the specified materials is 20 cm (7.8″).

Note! When using yarn of different length and thickness and/or a different size hook, the toy will be correspondingly larger/smaller.

This tutorial does not contain crochet lessons. Crochet skills and the ability to read a pattern are required.

Abbreviations:

MR – Magic Ring

sc – single crochet

sl st – slip stitch

ch – chain

hdc – half double crochet

dc – double crochet

inc – increase

dec – decrease

Instructions for crocheting this toy are based on the assumption that the beginning of the row remains in the same place throughout the entire piece. However, since we crochet in a spiral without chain stitches, the beginning of the row will shift to the right, so every 4-5 rows, you need to crochet an additional turning stitch at the end of the row to bring the beginning of the row back to the same place. These additional stitches are not included in the row descriptions.

Happy crocheting!

Ears:

Crochet with main color yarn (ginger).

Rnd 1: 4 sc in MR (4)

Rnd 2: inc in each sc around (8)

Rnd 3: (3 sc, inc)*2 times (10)

Rnd 4: (4 sc, inc)*2 times (12)

Rnd 5: (5 sc, inc)*2 times, 1 hdc (14)

Secure the yarn, cut, leaving an end for sewing the ears (see 30). Sew them to the head, considering that we need to create the illusion of a slightly tilted head.

Next, we will embroider the nose and eyes with black or brown yarn. Cut a long enough piece of yarn, determine the position of the nose, secure the yarn in that place, and hide the end. Embroider the nose, smile, eyes, and eyebrows with the same yarn. Then, to hide the yarn, I return it to the nose and secure it under the embroidered nose. Cut and hide discreetly.

Front and Back Paws:

Start crocheting with white yarn. Stuff only the soles and palms loosely. Do not stuff the paw itself.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)

Rnd 2: inc in each sc around (12)

Rnd 3 – 5 (3 rounds): 12 sc (12)

Rnd 6: 6 dec (6)

Change the color to the main one (ginger) and continue crocheting 6 sc in each round to the desired length of the paw. For the back paws, they should be long enough to be placed in the desired pose. I made an additional 32 rounds with 6 sc each. The front paws are shorter – below the buttocks, approximately the length of the palm. I made 16 rounds with 6 sc each. Yarn thickness and crochet tension vary for everyone, so adjust according to your cat to make everything harmonious.

Rnd 2 onwards: 5 sc (5)

Crochet the tail to the desired length (I made 15 rounds).

Now we need to attach the paws and tail to the body. For the back paws, cut a long wire for both paws. Insert it into the body and bend the ends of the wire. Put the paws on the wire and sew them on. For the front paws, cut two pieces of wire slightly larger than the paws themselves (see photo), fold the ends, insert into the paws, and sew to the body. For the tail, cut a wire more than twice the length of the tail, insert it through the loop, twist, and fold the end. Put on the tail and sew it. Arrange our cat in a yoga pose. The cat is ready!

Rnd 13: 27 sc.

Rnd 14: 4 sc, (dec, 7 sc)*2, dec, 3 sc = 24 sc.

Rnd 15: 24 sc.

Stretch the last loop a bit longer so it doesn’t unravel, leave the yarn without cutting, leave it before crocheting. Continue crocheting with white yarn.

Rnd 16: in the back loop (6 sc, dec)*3 = 21 sc.

Emblem on the Collar (Red):

For the emblem, use a 1.25-1.5 mm crochet hook and thin yarn in the color of the sweater (in this case, split the main red yarn in half lengthwise).

Row 1: 6 single crochet (sc) in the magic ring.

Row 2: (inc, 1 sc)*3, inc, 1 sc, inc, 1 sc = 10 sc.

Row 3: 1 sc, inc, 2 sc, (inc, 1 sc)*2, inc, slip stitch (ss) – incomplete row.

Crochet 2 such pieces.

Embroider three flames with thin yellow thread or fourfold stranded embroidery floss on one piece: using tambour stitch, make 3 stitches from top to bottom, with the middle one having 3 stitches and the side ones having 2 stitches.

Fold the pieces with the wrong sides facing each other and crochet them together with white thin thread. Start with the stitch between the tips.

Crochet according to the pattern (description) of the 4th row.

Hide all yarn ends inside as you crochet.

Make the last ss in the loop where you inserted the first stitch.

Pull the piece through the loop, securing the thread, cut it, leaving a long tail.

Wrap around the collar with three stitches (each time picking up the emblem at the top).

Wrap it a couple of times above the emblem to prevent the stitches from coming apart. Bring the thread out through the body below; there also catch the emblem with small stitches and secure the thread.

Emblem on the Hat (Gray):

For the emblem, use a 1.25-1.5 mm crochet hook and thin gray yarn. Crochet one piece following the pattern of the orange emblem rows 1-3. Embroider. Use tambour stitch to make 3 stitches from the bottom through every other hole for 1.5 rows. Similarly, use tambour stitch through the same holes slightly higher, 2 stitches up for 1 row, and 2 stitches diagonally for the corner.

Crochet around with white thin thread following the pattern of connecting the orange pieces (4th row). Cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing, and fasten off. Sew it onto the hat.

Spots (Black):

For the spots, use a 1.25-1.5 mm crochet hook and thin black yarn.

On the cheeks:

Row 1: 6 single crochet (sc) in the magic ring.

Row 2: 6 increases (inc) = 12 sc.

Row 3: (inc, 1 sc, inc, 3 sc)*2 = 16 sc.

Crochet 2 pieces, sew them symmetrically on the cheeks.

For each paw, Spot 1 and Spot 2, sew them in any order.

On the paws:

Spot 1:

Assembly:

Mentally or with the help of threads, divide the ball from the bottom into 4 sectors. Sew the legs, each in its sector, around the 4th row from the bottom, stuffing in the process.

Stuff the tail, sew it around the 7-8th row from the bottom.

Sew the beginning of the cord (12 cm) to the third row from the center. Attach regular thread almost at the beginning of the cord, thread the bead, pass it through the cord, again the bead, and so on until the end. Tighten, secure the thread to the end of the cord. Do not cut the thread, but pass it through the beads and the cord to the beginning of the fin and again to the end. Use this thread to sew the fin to the body.

Sew beads to the cord (10 cm) with a thin thread in the same color as on the fin. Pass the thread through the beads a couple of times back and forth. Attach the cord to the body on both sides in the form of wings, level it, then sew with the thread left at the end of the cord.

Sew on the eyes, embroider eyelashes, mouth, nose.
